I had just washed my car yesterday so I went out with a spray detailer and touched up a few water spots and missed edges before spraying the CHemical Guys’ Instawax+. Turns out I should;ve grabbed my trusty paste wax too since the trigger on this either broke or gummed up and the trigger is locked down so tight I need to cut the bottle open to get the wax out.
The picture on amazon is misleading - the trigger mechanism above is far simpler and smaller than the one they have now. Looking at the reviews, it looks like lots of people have had this issue in the past few months. Maybe this is the best spray wax in the world but if I can’t even get it out of the bottle, then it’s a total waste of 12$. Thanks for nothing, guys...Meanwhile the old Meguiar’s Gold cranked out the predictable shine I’ve come to expect from like 10$ at autozone. Maybe it;s more difficult but damn if it isn’t consistent. Buy a tin of your favorite paste instead of this stuff.

Well when you can get this stuff to work it looks amazing. If you bought it less than 30 days ago initiate a return or a replacement.
Also, if you’re looking an even better wax I’d recommend CarPro Reload. It’s a synthetic sealant that can last months with no rain or other inclement weather. But the best part about it is it can be applied to a wet car. You can also dilute it down and use it as a drying aid on every wash.

Already on the return process.
I’m a chemist who also dabbles in engineering, manufacturing, and packaging so I know all about making sure you have the right packaging for your product so this irks me greatly. I am sure it looks awesome (my hood was gleaming with the few spritzes I got out of it) but I’ll take my business elsewhere if they can’t be bothered to pick a good package. I’ll look into that reload. I don’t mind paste waxing since I’ve been doing it for so long and a simple but effective paste is so cheap but I also am on the hunt for a better way.

I think most of the detailing industry has moved away from paste waxes because synthetic spray sealants have come so far. Like I said Reload can be applied to a wet car. That’s fantastic for a detailing shop trying to get as many cars done or keep the man hours low. It’s also great for someone like myself who has a shit ton of things to doing and doesn’t particularly like detailing my cars, I just like the results.
And when I think about it most of the premier chemical companies don’t even make a paste wax. They sell a coating, and then a sealant designed for that coating or any other car without a coating.
But, having said that, some detailers still use a pure carnauba wax for that extra pop. In that case, I would recommend P21S 100% Carnauba Wax . I have some and I haven’t found a pure carnauba wax that is easier to remove. It actually comes off easier than any synthetic wax I have ever used. And it makes any car look absolutely phenomenal.

Race Glaze is really good. “I’ve used it for 25 years on red hondas and never had fading. In fact the Milano Red on my ‘07 is identical to my wife’s new ‘17 Civic.
Also my ‘07 Civic has no clearcoat failure common on most ‘07 civics I see. I just apply once a year and buff it out. Read the reviews.

Spray wax never does anything for me. Paste is most certainly the way to go always!

I typically use a lot of higher quality detailing stuff these days, but I will defend meguiars gold spray wax for ever. That stuff is great.

Anything wax based or chemical based is best off either inverted and sprayed or remove the trigger and spray any excess out of the line.
There is only one spray wax I liked and it was widely recognised as being the best and was called Gtechniq C3 Smart Wax, it was removed from the line up as Gtechniq I focused more on sealants and coatings. Which is a ruddy shame it was a super grade carnauba wax which flashed off and buffed off very quickly and easily.

I want to take out the chemical to use it as-is if possible but I can’t do that without puncturing the bottle. Which is really unfortunate.
Honestly I am now inspired to grab some chemical samples form my suppliers and see if I can’t whip up something better out of spite. To be honest, that’s about 75% of my job right now - a competitor has a product so I grab a sample and clone it, but better.
